A look at the future of the DCU
A stronger focus on continuity with Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters
DC Studios CEO James Gunn announced a brand new start to the DCU on Monday to a small group of reporters and officially unveiled the full lineup to the public on Tuesday. An 8-10 year plan has been mapped out for DC, completely wiping the continuity slate clean. There are 4 projects coming out over the next year - The Shazam: Fury of the Gods, The Flash, Blue Beetle & Aquaman 2. The Flash will reset the DC universe as previously rumored.
10 titles were revealed today, ranging from TV series to movies and even an animation all connected within the first chapter of the DCU called Gods and Monsters.
“So as many of you know, DC has been disconnected in film and television for a long time. It’s one of our jobs, mine and Peters, is to come in and make sure that the DCU is connected in Film, Television, Gaming, and Animation. That the characters are consisted and played by the same actors and that it works in one story. And if something is outside of that…that it is clearly labeled DC Elseworlds” - James Gunn
